In its efforts to safeguard public deposits and customers’ funds, the Central Bank of Sudan instructed banks, beginning in February of this year, to update customer information and classify their accounts in accordance with its supervisory regulations, international requirements, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.
Some banks have completed the data update process, while others are still in the process of doing so. Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sudan urges the public to ensure that their data is updated as a routine supervisory and regulatory measure carried out in accordance with established supervisory practices, regulations, international requirements, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.
Given the importance of completing the data update process and taking into consideration the circumstances of some customers, it has been decided to extend the update period until the end of 2026, providing everyone with sufficient time to complete the required procedures.
Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sudan urges all bank customers to ensure that their data is updated within the specified period by submitting the required official documents in accordance with the applicable procedures, in order to protect their rights and ensure smooth and convenient access to banking services.
As part of the State’s digital transformation efforts, work is underway to use the SudaPass digital identity for updating customer data.
