Pursuant to the provisions of Article 6/A of the Central Bank of Sudan Act of 2002 and its subsequent amendments, and based on its powers, authorities, and responsibilities in protecting the national currency, maintaining the stability of its exchange rate, and contributing to achieving economic stability, the Central Bank of Sudan hereby announces to the general public that a new banknote of the two thousand pounds denomination has been issued, with the following specifications, colors, and security features:

Banknote dimensions: 160 × 72 mm.

  • Content of the banknote: Livestock and artifacts from ancient Sudanese civilizations (Apedemak Temple).
  • Primary colors of the banknote: Shades of green and yellow.
  • Watermark: Full image of the Secretarybird and the denomination number 2000.
  • The front side includes: Livestock and agricultural elements, and the denomination number at the top left and bottom right.
  • Raised printing on the animals and the phrases (Central Bank of Sudan and Two Thousand Sudanese Pounds), the denomination numerals at the bottom and top, and tactile marks for the visually impaired at both ends of the banknote.
  • The reverse side includes Apedemak Temple from ancient civilizations.
  • Security thread: Shiny and optically variable.
  • See-through register: Cotton boll motif.
  • Serial numbers on the front side.
