Pursuant to the provisions of Article 6/A of the Central Bank of Sudan Act of 2002 and its subsequent amendments, and based on its powers, authorities, and responsibilities in protecting the national currency, maintaining the stability of its exchange rate, and contributing to economic stability, the Central Bank of Sudan hereby announces to the public that a new banknote of the 500 pounds denomination has been issued, with the following specifications, colors, and security features:

  • Banknote dimensions: 156 × 66 mm.
  • Theme of the banknote: Confluence of the Two Niles, the Republican Palace, and artifacts from ancient Sudanese civilizations.
  • Primary colors of the banknote: Shades of blue and brown.
  • Watermark: Full image of the Secretarybird and the denomination number 500.
  • Front side includes: The old Republican Palace, artifacts from ancient civilizations, and the denomination number at the top left and bottom right.
  • Raised printing: On the old palace, the phrases “Central Bank of Sudan” and “Five Hundred Sudanese Pounds,” the denomination numerals at the top and bottom, and tactile marks for the visually impaired at both ends of the banknote.
  • Reverse side: Depicts the confluence of the Two Niles.
  • Security thread: Shiny and optically variable.
  • See-through register: Pyramid Gate motif.
