Khartoum – June 22, 2026
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of foreign exchange resource management and develop the regulatory framework governing foreign trade operations, the Central Bank of Sudan continues to implement regulatory procedures for the importation of petroleum products, in coordination with the relevant government authorities.
Within this framework, companies operating in the petroleum products import sector have begun completing the requirements for the in-kind guarantees stipulated under the circulars issued by the Central Bank of Sudan. This is being carried out by depositing in-kind guarantees (200 kilograms of gold) with the Sudan Gold Refinery Company Limited, in accordance with the approved procedures. Deposit certificates have been issued to some companies that have fulfilled the guarantee requirement through the Sudan Gold Refinery Company Limited and have therefore become eligible to undertake import operations in accordance with the approved regulations.
The implementation of these procedures is part of efforts to strengthen controls related to import operations, improve the efficiency of foreign exchange resource management, and provide greater reliability and transparency in transactions related to the financing of strategic imports.
The Central Bank of Sudan confirms that ongoing coordination among banks, the relevant government authorities, and the Sudan Gold Refinery Company Limited contributes to implementing these procedures in accordance with the approved regulatory frameworks and supports the State’s efforts to strengthen economic and financial stability.
The Bank will continue to monitor the implementation of policies and procedures governing foreign trade and periodically assess their impact in order to achieve monetary policy objectives and maintain the soundness and efficiency of the financial system.
